Delayed Obedience
Delayed obedience is disobedience. It is saying that you know better than God. And who is the originator of that thought? Lucifer himself. Disobedience is rebellion against God.
By delaying the action God has instructed us to do, we are preventing the dominoes from falling when and how he intended. God does not NEED to use us to carry out His will, but He WANTS to use us.
It’s the butterfly effect; we do not know how what we do in this moment affects the lives of others or the trajectory of our calling. You could be blocking your blessing, or worse, blocking someone else’s deliverance (Isaiah 55:8-9).
We often do not act on God’s command when it goes against our flesh, when it combats the identity the enemy has instilled in us.
God has a plan and a purpose for us all (Jeremiah 29:11). We delay because we don’t see the full picture; we don’t receive the 10-step instructions with visuals. We get step 1. But because we don’t see the rest of the steps, we question, we delay. However, that is not faith. You don’t need to see the final product to start building; you only need faith to know that God will be with you, guiding you each step of the way.
There is a phrase that is used often, and many are shocked to know that it is not actually in the bible…
“God will not place more on you than you can handle”
That cannot be further from the truth. In fact, in my humble opinion, God’s favorite thing to do is put more on you than you think you can handle. That is when he shines, that is when he gets the glory because you will know it is not through your own strength, knowledge, or ability, but that of the Most High (Isaiah 41:10).
God told me to be a life coach, and he told me to start a blog. And I said to myself, I don’t know how to coach, who am I to guide anyone through life? I’m no writer, I’m surely not a social media pro. So for months on end, I delayed and made excuses, and every step of the way, I continued to hear the calling, I continued to receive the confirmations.
One day, a trusted friend, wise counsel if you will, had a message to me from God.
She told me I was being rebellious, and since I knew everything, he would let me keep control.
I was shooketh. I did not want control. In fact, I have always desired for someone to tell me the right thing to do in life. Little did I know I was ignoring that very thing I was desiring. All because I was listening to the enemy, all because I did not have faith in God.
I did not intend to be rebellious; I thought I was only doubting myself, but I was actually doubting God.
He called me, therefore HE will equip me (Hebrews 13:20-21). He makes no mistakes, and who am I to question that?
So here I am, stepping out on faith, letting God lead me.
I pray that whoever reads this will also let go and let God.
